The British Cycling Para cycling national championships will be taking place in Carmarthenshire later in the year, we went to meet one of the riders who’s taking part to look at how the sport of handcycling is growing in the UK.

Competition and the Season ahead

Matt has continued to progress well in the sport and has competed in a number of European rounds last year and looking forward to the upcoming British Championships planned for the 6-7th of July in Carmarthenshire.

It’s hoped the event will showcase and allow the opportunity for more people to come and experience Para-cycling opportunities that are taking place at dedicated hubs across Wales.

The Racing Scence in Wales

"Matt has already achieved some huge successes in a very competitive hand cycling world and his passion and determination is clear to see. Access to appropriate equipment is quite often a barrier to people taking part in sport, and even more so for individuals with an impairment as the equipment isn’t as readily available due to the specific nature. Matt will be competing in this years National Road race and TT championships in Pembrey and wish wish him the best of luck for this event. If you are able to support Matt in his goal of purchasing a more suitable racing hand bike please visit his Go Fund Me page!"
