Welcome to our new Welsh Cycling Area co-ordinator Becky Nokes who will be based in North Wales.  As a keen cyclist and Mountain bike leader, Becky is a great asset to join our North Wales Team and will be tasked with creating more opportunities for women to explore all the great cycle paths and trails that North Wales has to offer.

Hey Becky, Welcome to the Team.  Tell us a little about yourself…

I’m self employed as an outdoor professional, working with many different groups of young people and adults, helping them to explore and enjoy the outdoors. I guide and coach mountain biking, teach navigation and guide others in the mountains.

Why did you get into Cycling?

As a child I would go everywhere on my Raleigh Racer bike, but as I got older cycling wasn’t on my agenda, until about 6 years ago when I changed career to work in the outdoor industry. It was then that I fell in love with Mountain Biking. I find that being out on my bike takes me away from everyday stresses, it gives me a feeling of freedom and adventure no matter where I ride.

Why did you join Breeze?

I joined breeze as a champion to be able to encourage and support other women to be out on their bikes, and being a level 2 MTB leader I am able to lead groups on mountain bikes and as a coach, I love seeing the progression in the riders ability, and the self confidence it brings to them.

Its also a fantastic social opportunity, we always have fun and a few laughs no matter what the weather, especially with a cafe stop afterwards!

As Area Coordinator what do you hope to achieve?

As Area Coordinator I’m really keen to work alongside the Breeze Champions to try and get lots of rides running throughout the year, and lots more women out on bikes. With the help of our champions, I will be working to create more opportunities for women to be able to explore all the great cycle paths and trails that North Wales has to offer.  I’m keen to offer as much support and encouragement to Breeze volunteers as I can, and hopefully together, we can encourage new volunteers into the program and grow the network of women cyclists in North Wales.

Becky is already active on 'She Cycles Wales' Facebook Page so drop her a message if you want to catch up with her.
