About the Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup

The Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup is a five-round competition which takes place between November and January.

Round three in Milton is the first of two back-to-back rounds taking place in December, with Santiago in Chile hosting round four next weekend.

The series concludes in the new year, with the fifth and final round taking place in Minsk, Belarus, from 19-21 January.

The venue

Milton is a town in Southern Ontario, Canada, just 25 miles from Toronto, the home of Great Britain Cycling Team’s official bike supplier Cervelo

The town has a population of around 110,000 and is known for being the hometown of music producer Deadmau5 and former astronaut Colonel Chris Hadfield.

The Mattamy National Cycling Centre is the home of Canada cycling and is the only velodrome of its kind in Canada.

The centre opened in January 2015 and was built for the 2015 Pan American Games at a cost of around £37million.

The 250m track is made of timber and has two 42 degree banks, with a capacity of around 1,500 for this weekend’s world cup - the first world-level cycling event to take place at the facility.
