Welsh Cycling team to compete at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Poland

The 2017/18 Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup begins this weekend in Pruszkow, with 5 riders set to compete for the Welsh Cycling Team.

The Tissot UCI Track Cycling World Cup, which is a five-round competition takes place between November and January.

The 2017/18 series begins in Pruszkow, Poland from 3-5 November before heading to the home of British Cycling at the HSBC UK National Cycling Centre for round two in Manchester one week later.

Round three takes place from 1-3 December in Milton, Canada with the fourth round a week later in Santiago, Chile.

The series concludes in the new year, with the fifth and final round taking place in Minsk, Belarus, from 19-21 January.

Riders will do battle to be crowned world cup winners in individual disciplines, with an overall team prize also up for grabs.

As well as world cup honours, valuable qualification points for future world championships are also available throughout the series.

In addition, Welsh Riders Elinor Barker, Manon Lloyd and Joe Holt will compete for the Great Britain Cycling team across the weekend.

Pruszkow is the biggest city of Warsaw’s Western Strand with a population of around 60,000.

The BGZ Arena was opened in 2008 as Poland’s first indoor velodrome and hosted the 2009 UCI Track Cycling World Championships and will also be the venue for the 2019 world championships.

The 250m track is made of Siberian pine and has a bend inclination of 42.1 degrees.
