The British Cycling National Trophy Cyclo-cross series is past the halfway stage but the standings are still wide open as the racing heads to Ipswich for the penultimate round of the competition on Sunday 27 November.

Ones to watch

Elite men

Ian Field (Hargroves Cycles – Ridley RT) leads the elite men’s standings, after taking his second win of the series at Hetton Lyons and drawing ahead of nearest rival Yorben Van Tichelt (Marlux-Napoleon Games).

Liam Killeen (Malvern Cycle Sport), the current owner of the national champion’s jersey, will return to the National Trophy Series in Ipswich, having missed the previous round in Sunderland; the former Olympic mountain bike rider is sure to give Field a good race.

Elite women

Hannah Payton (Team Kinesis UK) and Beth Crumpton’s (Boot Out Breat Cancer CC) rivalry will continue in Ipswich after a sprint finish between the pair saw them take the top two steps of the podium at Hetton Lyons.

Payton currently leads the standings, with Crumpton right behind her and Annabel Simpson (Hope Factory Racing) only a few points behind in third.

Junior men

The junior men’s race will be wide open as series leader Tom Pidcock will be on World Cup duty, along with fellow Great Britain Cycling Team junior riders Thomas Mein, Dan Tullet and Ben Turner.

Currently sitting in third place in the overall standings, Sam Moses (Oldfield/Paul Milnes Cycles ERT) will be looking to seize the opportunity to take his first win of the series; a win which would put him on top heading into the decider in Shrewsbury.
