Newly-crowned national champion Scott Beaumont continued his perfect weekend of racing to claim victory in the HSBC UK | National 4X Series at Falmouth.

Beaumont continued where he left off on Saturday by winning all his races and remaining unbeaten for the whole weekend in Round 6 of the National Series.

Despite just turning 40, Beaumont showed his class and experience at the Falmouth 4X track, admitting afterwards the weekend’s excursions had gone ever better than he anticipated.

“I’m really buzzing,” said Beaumont. “I had goals coming into the weekend, like everyone, but I didn’t expect to hit them all, it’s been great.”

Racing in the Men’s Elite motos was fiercely contested with riders going hard and taking more chances, with constant attacks and position changes being the features as riders fought for points and places in the finals.

The Men’s Elite Final saw Beaumont (USN Racing), Will Evans (Orange), Alex Metcalfe and Declan Willicombe (Kustom Bikes) go head to head for the honours, and it was Beaumont who rode another perfectly executed race, leading from the gate and taking top place on the podium.

In the women’s race, Megan Wherry (Dialled Bikes/Katy Curd Coaching/Unit Cycles), sealed victory by beating off strong competition to add to her third place in the previous day’s national championships.

It proved a successful weekend for the talented Wherry, who finished ahead of Courtney Abbess in second and Anna Feichtner in third.

Afterwards she acknowledged the support and encouragement of her team, who convinced her to take the more challenging but faster ‘pro line’ route on the track.

“The strategy paid off,” she said. “I got off to a strong start, which meant I could focus on my lines, the ‘pro line’ then gave me the advantage I needed and I was able to extend my lead to the finish.”
