Event: 23 June 2013
Location: Parkwood Springs Shirecliffe Road, Sheffield

The Nutcracker Altura MTB XC Series heads to Sheffield this month to make use of the fantastic new Parkwood Springs facility within the city limits!

Overlooking the Hillsborough football stadium, Parkwood is a new facility developed in partnership between the CTC and Sheffield City Council to offer the ever-growing masses of Sheffield’s mountain bikers an inner-city refuge to top up their gnar! Berm after berm, table-top after table-top, you’re guaranteed to be grinning when you cross the finish line at this event and, strangely for an Olympic cross country style event, organisers are suggesting use of a dropper post to increase the grin factor!

With the race series now in its fourth year, organisers have reported of a “boom” in entry numbers, with a fantastic start to the season. The Parkwood event will be the fourth in the 2013 series, this year sponsored generously by Yorkshire clothing brand Altura. “We recognised Sheffield as being one of the Mecca’s of Yorkshire mountain biking and wanted to take our races to the masses! Parkwood’s a great new facility – something a bit different to our usual old-school style, but we’re looking forward to what’s going to be a great event” commented Nutcracker’s social butterfly James Hall. Altura brand Manager Ian Young added “We are exceptionally happy with our sponsorship of the Nutcracker series this year. The first 3 rounds have all been extremely well organised and rider feedback has been fantastic with numbers up and growing all the time. The Sheffield event looks set to be another great day”

The Nutcracker events offer something for everyone, with fun categories, serious “points chaser” categories (the events are all registered with British Cycling and offer national ranking points) and even free racing for the stars of the future – the fantastic Sweatmonster racing, which is aimed specifically at under 12s and run on a separate, less challenging course.

If you’re ready to rip up the trails at Parkwood Springs and have a serious craving for some gnar-inducing action, then head over here to enter now here.

Entry in advance is strongly advised – on-the-day entries are always available but incur a £5 premium for the privilege! Further information is available via the Nutcracker Altura series website: www.nutcrackermtb.co.uk
