Rounding up a great weekend of racing, over 200 riders opted to embark on the Great Yorkshire Enduro, a veritable romp through some of the finest trails that course designers Paul Davis and Sara Randle could put together from all that was on offer at Dalby Forest. An ingenious eight mile loop was created that took in many of the delights of the World Cup course as well as copious amounts of refreshingly fast flowing, grin inducing singletrack, far, far away from the madding crowds!

Despite mixed weather reports the event was blessed with stunning blue skies and warm gentle breezes that only gave way to a tempestuous downpour well after the last rider had come home and driven home smiling all the way with that warm happy glow you get after a cracking day in the saddle.

Lee Williams made short work of the four lap challenge blasting round in 2hrs 20 minutes, with masters rider Steve James hot on his tail a couple of minutes later. Mel Spath grinning all the way completed her four laps in just under three hours, with Emma Bradley having a better day out on the enduro than the XC completing her challenge in three hours 14 minutes. In the three lap option Billy-Joe Whenman flew round in one hour 49 minutes, cheering on dad Jim as he blasted past.

It was also good to see Junior Steve James back up and running again after his nasty crash in practise on Friday ruling him out of Saturday's XC race. Looks like the wrist injury is well on its way to a full recovery ready for the British XC Championships in a couple of week's time.

For those not wanting to test themselves around the long loop there was also the option of a cracking demo loop and a plethora of bikes from which to choose to test both out.

Many thanks to everyone who came along and gave both the challenge and the demo a good go, thanks too, to all the demo brands and of course Quaver Catering who supplied enough carbs and suitable refreshments to top off and already top day.

Rumour has it that Newnham Park will be the place to be in September to try out the very latest 2011 bikes. These hot off the press bikes will ready to ride, just make sure you hot foot it down to Plymouth for a weekend of excellent racing, demo's and challenge rides!
