Wiggle Mountain Mayhem 2012
Location: Eastnor Deer Park
Event: 23 and 24 June

On the weekend of June 23 and 24 Wiggle Mountain Mayhem returns once again to the green fields and hillsides of Eastnor Castle Deer Park in Herefordshire.

For the thousands that participate in this epic 24 hour endurance mountain bike event it is a weekend to plan and look forward to for many months; last year the opportunity to race at the event was extended to include junior riders with the introduction of the JNR24@24 Race, and for 2012 the race returns but bigger and better than before.

This year, those riders just too young to take part in the main event, can really get a taste of the 24 hour race by racing on the same course and at the same time as the 24 hour competitors. Mountain Mayhem JNR24@24 in 2012 will truly give you a feel for the main event without being subjected to the pain, suffering and sleep deprivation of 24 hours of racing.

Once the main race is underway, the junior race will start in the main event arena utilising a specially segregated start lane. Riders, identifiable by their different race number plate colour, will then proceed to complete one lap of the main course. The race will be open to both male and females in the junior age category. For ease if you were born in 1994 or 1995 then you are eligible to enter. The winner will be the first rider to complete the lap.

There will be trophies and prizes for the top three male and female riders. Plus there will be a generous goody bags for all competitors.

The cost to enter is £10. If you wish to enter this event then you can enter on line or by post, via the official event website www.wigglemountainmayhem.com on the entry page. Postal entries must be received by 15 June 2012 alternatively entry on the day will also be available.

The provisional programme of activity is as follows:

  • Sign on in main registration Friday 12pm – 8.30pm and Saturday 7am – 11am
  • Course open for inspection on Friday 4pm – 6pm; Saturday 8am – 10.30am
  • Race start Saturday 6.00pm
  • Race finish Saturday 7.00pm (approx)
  • Prize presentation Saturday 7.45pm (approx) in the main arena

The aim of this race is to give a wider range of riders (not just those that have raced previously) the opportunity to get involved at this long standing and respected event, give them a flavour of the main race and encourage them to come back in future years to race the full 24 hours. So if you were just coming to watch and support others in the main race, make sure you pack your bike as well and come and have a go - see you on the start line!
