It was back-to-back Harthill victories for both Dave Roberts and Megan Wherry on Sunday in Round 2 of the HSBC UK | MTB 4X National Series.

Roberts stormed to victory in the Pro Elite race, taking the win in his first moto of three to ease into the first semi-final.

Connor Hudson, finishing third and again taking a podium place, kept his nerve in the first semi-final, avoiding both Tom Bell and Kingsley Mears as they hit the dirt.

This left the track open for eventual winner of the semi-final Roberts and Hudson to dual it out - Roberts having the better line to take the win.

Roberts then made no mistake in the final, nailing his lines to take the win from Grant Hill, Hudson took third and Dan Wagstaff rolled in fourth spot.

Wherry once again all but dominated the women races, making a clean sweep of her three motos and the second semi-final before flying off the ramp to head the A final for the win, retaining the Series lead.

Courtney Abbiss had to be content with second overall, Hannah Escott took third and Julie Morrissey fourth. In the B final it was Rachel Powis who got the better of Chelsey Barnett to take the win.

What they said

After her win, Wherry commented: “It’s been really good here, with lots of competitive riding and I’ve done really well.

“I did have a little crash yesterday but I got that out of the way and managed to stay on and take the win today. I like this course because it’s got different jumps and different styles.

“It was so dry and fast today, very nice to ride.”

Roberts commented: “This place is good for me! It was kind of gifted to me last year with two riders going down on the first corner but this year I took an inside line out of the first corner and got a bit close in the second, but from then on it was plain sailing all the way down.

“Because it was so dry today it was ridiculously fast so we were going in three or four times faster than normal people would do here.”
