The 2018 HSBC UK | National Cross Country Series continues this weekend with round two taking place in Yorkshire.

Dalby Forest plays host as a Commonwealth champion is set to make her mark on the 2018 series.

About the competition

The HSBC UK | National Cross Country Series is a five-round competition which takes place between April and August, with a rider’s best four scores from the series counting towards their overall total.

The series opened at Sherwood Pines, with the second round taking place at Dalby Forest in North Yorkshire.

The action then heads to Glentress Forest in Peebles in May before Phoenix Bike Park hosts round four in June in Suffolk.

The final round of the 2018 series takes place in Wales at the Royal Welsh Showground in Builth Wells.

Elite women

Team England’s first-ever women’s Commonwealth champion is set to take to the start line in North Yorkshire this weekend.

Annie Last wins gold in the Commonwealth Games mountain bike race

Annie Last took a sensational victory on the Gold Coast earlier this month and will now look to transfer her incredible form to the domestic scene.

Last’s main competition at Dalby Forest will come from Sophie Wright (Renvale RT) and Kerry MacPhee who finished second and third respectively at the opening round at Sherwood Pines last month.

The early series leader Isla Short - who took a fifth place finish for Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Games - does not ride at this round.

Elite men

Milan Vader (Habitat Mountain BT) took the win at the opening round of the HSBC UK | Cross Country Series but will not be in Yorkshire this weekend.

The Dutchman was part of an all-Netherlands top three in Sherwood Pines, with Grant Ferguson missing out on the podium in fourth.

The CST American Eagle rider will hope for better fortune at Dalby Forest on his return from international duty for Team Scotland at the Commonwealth Games.

Frazer Clacherty in action for 100% ME

100% ME’s Frazer Clacherty was the best performing British rider on the Gold Coast, with an excellent fifth place finish - and the young Great Britain Cycling Team star will hope to continue his good form this weekend.

Clacherty is joined by 100% ME teammate Cameron Orr, who also secured a top ten finish at the Commonwealth Games in the colours of Northern Ireland.
