We recognise that when people engage in the outdoors and adventure activities they often do so across a number of different sports.

In many cases it is the environment in which they take part that is the motivation and drive to participate, and which inspires life changing habits and personal development.  This is backed up by the recent research undertaken by Sport England and the OIA - "Getting Active Outdoors."

With this in mind, the above organisations are investigating how we can work together to benefit the participant, our members, volunteers, coaches, instructors and leaders to increase regular participation and the benefits of healthy lifestyles across our sports.  Our joint actions may include:

  • Advocating a higher profile for outdoor activity to deliver against a broad set of outcomes
  • Influencing decision makers to invest in the outdoors
  • Supporting providers to achieve quality delivery standards
  • Developing and supporting coaches/instructors/leaders to deliver a range of activities which meets the needs of different audiences
  • Marketing and communicating the value of outdoor activity -  the enjoyment of the outdoors and our natural resources, aiming to change behaviours and create an outdoor activity habit and culture.
  • Encouraging and promoting responsible access, activity and environmental awareness and respect
  • Piloting new ways of engagement and delivery so we broaden the reach and appeal of outdoor activities.
