The 2016 British Cycling MTB Four Cross Series heads to South Wales on Saturday 30 April for the second round of this year’s competition.

Following the opening round at Chicksands in March, where Connor Hudson and Natasha Bradley took the elite wins, a strong field will line up in Afan.

Hudson will be back in action in the elite men’s competition, hoping to make it two out of two for the season. Up against him, Aaron Dalleywater, Rich Swales and Nathan Parsons also ran well in Bedfordshire.

Afan will also see the return to action of Scott Beaumont – fully fit again after an injury nightmare in 2015 that prevented him from racing.

In the women’s event, series leader Natasha Bradley will be among the favourites again after dominating at Chicksands earlier this year.

Fellow finalists Megan Wherry, Hannah Escott and Ellie Dewdney also made the final in round one and will keen to climb the rankings in South Wales.

The Afan course has a long rock section, corkscrew bridge and double jumps more than 35 feet long. Racing is traditionally very close on the course, with multiple opportunities to overtake – and the course has historically seen a number of last-second wins.
