Britain’s Josh Bryceland won his second UCI Mountain Bike Downhill World Cup on Saturday to hold the series lead with one round remaining.  

Bryceland, riding for Santa Cruz Syndicate, completed his run in 2:24.300 at Windham in the United States with American Aaron Gwin second and Australia’s Tony Brosnan third.

"It was pretty smooth. It's such a short track - you have to ride aggressively. I don't really like doing that but it seems to have paid off," Bryceland said.

In the overall rankings, Bryceland has 1007 points, ahead of Brosnan who is second on 964 points.

In the women’s race, Rachel Atherton’s winning streak at the venue ended as fellow Briton Manon Carpenter maintained her overall lead.

GT Factory Racing’s Atherton finished second, nearly three seconds behind France’s Emmeline Ragot. Madison Saracen Factory Team’s Carpenter was fourth, eight seconds back from Rafot.

"I had a good run - it was pretty safe," Carpenter told CyclingNews.

"I had a bad crash a few years ago here when I was a junior, and there's something about this track that I struggle with. I would have like to place higher to help me out points wise but I'm happy to still be leading. It's going to be tight going into the last round."

Carpenter has 1180 points in the overall standings, 70 points clear of Ragot and 120 ahead of Atherton ahead of the final round in Meribel, France.
