Devil's MTB and Road Challenges part of Llanwrtyd Wells' World Alternative Games

The Devil's Mountain Bike Challenge and The Devil's Road Challenge are being organised on 2 September as part of the World Alternative Games in Llanwrtyd Wells. They are expecting to welcome visitors from all over the UK and from abroad. And with free camping thrown-in as part of the very modest entry fees, the events offer devilishly good value, as Neil from Red Kite Events explains...

"These are two fantastic events for cycling enthusiasts, and they will be held during a great festival of fun in our town that is the World Alternative Games, and to be a part of that will make the effort worthwhile," said Neil Delafield of event organisers Red Kite Events.

"Our mountain bike challenge - one day of superb riding around a beautiful area of Wales - is just £12, and our Road Challenge is just £10, which is fantastic value for such a big organised ride, and includes free camping."

The Devil’s MTB Challenge

  • 50k and 80k route options
  • Routes using some of the best tracks around Llanwrtyd Wells, the area has been popular for mountain bikers since day 1 of mountain biking in the UK.

The riding in Mid Wales really is outstanding and a bit of a hidden gem. Come and experience superb trails and stunning scenery

  • 1 food stop for the 50k route
  • 2 food stops for the 80k route
  • Medics and mechanics on course
  • Fully way marked routes
  • Event supported by the Welsh Assembly, Powys County Council, World Alternative Games, Llanwrtyd Wells Cycling club
  • Free camping
  • Some of the route will be run on private land please do not ride the course before or after the event
  • Entry fees £12 before midnight 31st July

The Devil’s Road Challenge - 2nd September 2012

  • 80.5k and 129k options on our very hilly routes. What the routes lack in distance they make up for in climbing
  • The routes use the quiet and very picturesque roads of Mid Wales
  • 1 food stop for the 50 mile route. 2 food stops for the 80 mile route
  • Medics and mechanics on course
  • Fully way marked routes
  • Event supported by the Welsh Assembly, Powys County Council, World Alternative Games
  • Free camping
  • GPX files on request
  • Entry fees £10 till 31st July
