Exclusive Member Event at the Yorkshire 2019 UCI Road World Championships
British Cycling members have the chance to attend an exclusive event at the British Cycling Clubhouse in Harrogate on Sunday 22 September from 12pm - 2pm.
The intimate member-only event will feature two talks, one from academic and Senior Lecturer in Education at the University of Brighton, Dr Marlon Moncrieffe and another from the Guardian's lead cycling writer, William Fotheringham.
Places are limited and will be allocated by ballot. The ballot will close at 23:59 on Sunday 8 September and successful applicants will be offered two tickets and notified by email week commencing 9 September.
Dr Marlon Moncrieffe will present: Our Black-British champions in cycling: Uncovering and raising their profiles for advancing notions of diversity and representation in British Cycling.
The talk focuses specifically on the careers of cyclists such as Maurice Burton, David Clarke, Shanaze Reade, and Mark Mckay (to name a few) who all could be considered as 'pioneers' and 'key figures' for illuminating racial diversity and representation in British Cycling through their participation and successes in the sport over the last 50 years.
William Fotheringham will be discussing his latest book: The Greatest: The Times and Life of Beryl Burton, a brand-new biography of the seven times world champion and Yorkshire cycling legend, published to coincide with the world champions in Burton's home town of Harrogate.
