What kind of riding do you do?

Long solo rides, club rides, rides with my wife and some sportives.

What do you enjoy most about cycling?

I’m just addicted to it! I started in August 2014, fancied the idea of it and needed to get fit. Three months later I had lost two and a half stone and had achieved my first 100 mile ride through the Cotswolds on a very windy day!

This year after riding an early sportive in the New Forest I thought I would challenge myself a bit more so entered the Tour of Cambridgeshire, came in 44th out of 620 in my class. I also did RideLondon for charity raising money for Alzheimers. I finished the 100 miles in 4hrs 46 mins, it was a great achievement for me.

What’s your favourite ride?

Ride London, has to be! 100 miles on closed roads through our capital city is awesome!

What’s your top cycling tip to share?

On a sportive, sort out your nutrition beforehand, things that you know you can eat and don’t be tempted to try new or different products on the ride. I tried a different make of energy shots on a sportive and couldn’t stomach them.

If you had a tandem, who would you like to ride it with

My Mum, sadly she passed away from Alzheimer’s some five years ago, but she would have loved it on the front of a bike, wind in her hair and me doing all the pedalling!
