Hello from Manchester’s National Cycling Centre, where we’re about to see the start of the BMX world cup season.
It’s always exciting to have a major event in the building and I know the BMX squad are motivated to race.
Liam Phillips has the chance to win his third world cup in a row here, which would be a great achievement and – along with the success of the Academy riders – underlines what a great asset the new indoor facility has been.
We’re also busy with the road and mountain bike season in full swing and we’re seeing some great young talent develop both on and off road.
At the highest level there have also been great rides for Geraint Thomas, Ian Stannard, Luke Rowe and Lizzie Armitstead in the spring campaign.
It may be the end of the track season but preparations for next year have already started – all the athletes are back from their end of season break and working hard.
That includes the welcome return of Shanaze Reade and Becky James - who is putting injury behind her and preparing to race once again.
The final mention goes to Sir Bradley Wiggins – he’s ended his time in the UCI World Tour – and we can’t wait to welcome him back to the building as he prepares for his hour record attempt and finally the team pursuit in Rio.
Here’s to the start of a great summer of cycling,
