Great Britain Cycling Team technical director Shane Sutton OBE takes a look at an exciting start to 2015, with three major international events on the horizon.

The year may only be a few weeks old but the Great Britain Cycling Team has hit the ground running, with some major events on the horizon and some exciting new developments.

First up is the final round of the UCI Track Cycling World Cup in Cali – After a great showing in London it’s the final chance for our riders to race at the top level before we head for Paris in February for the world championships.

The team has taken some big steps forward since last we were in Colombia for the 2014 worlds and it’s encouraging to see new riders stepping up and existing stars leading by example.

At the end of the month we’ve got the UCI Cyclo-cross World Championships – the climax of the season for our Great Britain ‘cross riders.

As on the track, our established performers like Ian Field, Helen Wyman and Nikki Harris are cutting it in the elite field while behind them some exciting new prospects are already showing their potential at world cup level. It will be exciting to see what they can do in Czech Republic.

Back on home soil at the same time, we’ve got the Newport Para-cycling International, a great chance for British fans to watch our Great Britain para-cycling heroes in action before they turn their attention to the world championships in March.

Here’s to a great cycling year ahead and thanks for your support.
