The first test event for the BMX track at Cyclopark was welcomed with glorious weather on the 15th,16th October.

The event was organised by the one and only Martin Baxter from the new Go-Ride club, Club Cyclopark, who attracted over 350 riders from across the UK and as far as Australia! Elite Riders such as Marcus Bloomfield UK No 1, Darryn Goodwin, Australian Elite rider and Kelvin Bates attended.

Riders as young as four took part and all those who participated said that this was one of the best tracks they had ridden. The pump track was also available to keep the younger riders happy when they were not competing and British Cycling’s Alistair Findlay and Luke Anderson were the expert Go-Ride Coaches on hand to deliver coaching sessions to new riders.

The day also brought another surprise when a full TV crew and O J Borg from the National Lottery and Sport England turned up to present Club Cyclopark with a cheque for £10,000.00 towards the purchase of new equipment, after a successful Small Grant and Sportsmatch application, which will enable more young people to participate in the sport. This filming can be seen on BBC 1 at around 8.30 on Saturday 29th October.
