The 2018 School Games National Finals is a multi-sport event for the UK's elite young athletes and will be once again hosted in Loughborough, from 31 August to 3 September.
Effectively a youth Olympic Games, the three-day championships provide competitors with an experience of elite competition featuring opening and closing ceremonies, accreditation, team kit and an athletes’ lounge area.
Over 1,600 young people competed at last year’s event, which was supported by more than 500 volunteers. We are once again offering an amazing opportunity to all those on the Cycling Award for Young Volunteers Programme to get involved. A special thank you goes out to the Regional Boards who have kindly supported with funding to ensure we can offer this opportunity to our Young Leaders.
To provide an expert support network at this year’s event, the Go-Ride team is looking for a group of enthusiastic young Leaders to take on the role of Team Attaché for each of the regional cycling teams taking part. Volunteers will receive training in preparation for their role, with safeguarding, event and sport-specific training delivered by British Cycling to ensure you can fulfil your role and be an ambassador for the sport.
Getting involved would mean that you can take part in opportunities such as team meetings, training and competition sessions and the opening and closing ceremony, as well as working behind the scenes on everything from administrative tasks to sorting out competition kit.
