A team of 15 British riders are in Segovia, Spain, today for the second round of the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Cup, a vital event in the qualification race for places at the London 2012 Paralympic Games.

The British team picked up 10 medals at the first round of the World Cup series in Sydney last month and will face tough competition in Segovia this weekend, with a high number of European riders entered into the event.

Friday 10 June will see riders from all classes compete in Time Trials at Valverde del Majano, a flat and open 21km loop through fields.

On Saturday 11 tandem riders and handcyclists will compete in Road Racers in the town of Cuellar on a course consisting 12km maps that finished up a 500m cobbled climb.

On Sunday 12 June handcyclists will compete in the Relay and riders in the C and Trike classes in Road Races in Escalona Del Prado over a flat 18.5km circuit.

British coaches will use the Segovia round of the World Cup to select the team for the Para-Cycling Road World Championships, Denmark, in September.

GB Riders Entered:

C5 - Russ White will face a full strength C5 field as he attempts to finish in top 10 positions to return points for the team.

C4 - after two tough weeks of competition in Europe, Jody Cundy will face his old opponent Jiri Jezek (CZE) who continues to dominate C4 road racing.

C3 - Rik Waddon won the TT at this event last year and seems to have good form from the recent series of European races.

C3 - Shaun McKeown, World Bronze medallist in the TT, has shown great form coming into this event and is one to watch.

C3 - Darren Kenny, Multiple World Champion, makes a welcome return to the event after a year away from road racing.

C2 - Simon Price is making his debut for the GB Cycling Team after an excellent third place in the Piacenza Road Race.

C1 - Mark Colbourne is another debutant for the GB Cycling Team having shown impressive strength in Gippingen last weekend.

T2 - David Stone, current double World Champion, will once again come up against World Silver Medalist Georgio Farroni from Italy.

H3 - Rachel Morris, double World Champion from Canada last year, will once again look to dominate with Sandra Graf from SUI trying to stop her.

H2 - Karen Darke, who has shown impressive improvements this year, will be eying up the podium, and face the biggest threat from Ursula Swaller (SUI).

H2 - Chris Madden, drafted into the team after a strong start to the season, will be looking for top 10 positions in both RR and TT. He is also likely to feature in the team relay where GB picked up third place last year.

B/Vi - Lora Turnham, piloted by Fiona Duncan, who came second in the TT at the World Cup in Sydney, is showing good form and will be looking to repeat her win at this event last year.

B/Vi - Aileen McGlynn, piloted by Louise Haston, another debutant for GB, has strong road pedigree with silver in the TT from the 2009 World Championships.
