Track Cycling Day 1

The track cycling component of the BT Paralympic World Cup began with the qualification rounds of the 3000m and 4000m men's pursuit. The 3km event had three GB riders, Darren Kenny, Rik Waddon and Simon Richardson, in serious medal contention.


3km Pursuit Qualification -- LC3/LC4/CP3/CP4 Male

Darren Kenny comfortably qualified fastest in the 3km Individual Pursuit, despite a storming ride from Japan's Ishii Masashi. GB's Rik Waddon also qualified for the ride off for bronze and will face Jiri Bouska of the Czech Republic. GB's Simon Richardson looked set to progress too until Masashi took to the track. The session also saw a new world record for Italy's Paulo Vigano in the LC4 category.

Event 1 - 4km Pursuit Qualification -- LC1/LC2 Male
Czech rider Jiri Jezek qualified fastest in the 4km event beating his nearest rival, Gohr of Brazil by nearly four seconds. Germany's Wolfgang Sacher qualified third and will face Fabio Triboli of Italy in the ride-off for Bronze.
