British Cycling Olympic Academy Programme athletes Kyle Evans and Curtis Manaton represented Great Britain at rounds five and six of the European BMX Series in Weiterstadt, Germany.

Round five on Saturday saw 19 year old Kyle Evans make it through to the quarter finals in the Elite Men’s category, before a fifth place saw him exit the competition. It was the same story for Evan’s teammate Curtis Manaton, the 19 year old from Burnham on Sea finishing fifth in his quarter final heat.

It was a repeat performance for Evans in round six on Sunday, once again progressing to the quarter finals and finishing fifth. Manaton was less fortunate, a sixth place in his 1/8 final heat seeing him exit the competition.

Double Olympic champion Maris Strombergs of Latvia was the victor in both rounds, extending his lead in the series. After six rounds, Evans lies in 23rd in the series standings having missed rounds three and four in Czech Republic, while Manaton is in 28th after also skipping the Pardubice rounds.

The BMX Euro Series moves on to Angleholm, Sweden for Round 7 and 8 on 1-2 June.
