Great Britain’s Jason Kenny maintained his overall lead at the Six Days of Rotterdam despite a crash in the keirin.
The collision saw the 24-year-old Olympic champion hit the boards alongside Frenchman Gregory Bauge and it was decided that no result would stand for the discipline.
Earlier, Kenny – alongside Sir Chris Hoy – repeated the two-man team sprint success of the opening evening of the competition, defeating Teun Mulder and world champion Gregory Bauge.
British Cycling Olympic Podium Programme rider Kenny then qualified fastest in the sprint ahead of Hoy with Mulder and Bauge third and fourth respectively. Both then progressed through to the final, Kenny beating Bauge and Hoy proving too much for Mulder.
Unlike Thursday’s contest though it would be Hoy who took victory over his teammate in the final, meaning that between the two they have won every sprint event so far. With no result for the keirin it leaves six-time Olympic champion Hoy two points away from Kenny, who holds onto his overall lead in the Giant Sprint Masters competition.
Kenny later tweeted: “Crashed again today and managed to knock off Grégory Baugé in the process ... thankfully no harm done to either of us!”
Hoy also tweeted: “Ups and downs in Rotterdam; @ JasonKenny107 and I won the team sprint, I won the sprint but then he crashed in the keirin. # Skin loss.”
