Report from day 3 at the U23/Junior European Track Championships

The third day’s racing in the U23/Junior European Championships saw some promising results from Great Britain Academy and Olympic Development riders.

Matt Rotherham, after qualifying second fastest in the 200m TT with a time of 10.619 is now through to the semi-finals to be held today on the track in Anadia. In the Women’s U23 Sprint Becky James made it through to the semi-finals were she will face Viktoria Baranova of Russia for a place in the gold medal final.

Development rider, Amy Roberts totalled 10 points in the Junior Points race placing her 5th overall. Development sprint rider Danielle Khan rode an impressive time of 36.564 just missing out on the bronze medal spot by a small margin.

Today sees the Women’s U23 Sprint Semis and Finals where Becky James will go for a place in the major final as well as Matt Rotherham looking for his spot in that gold medal ride in the Junior Sprint. We also see the start of the Men’s Junior Omnium as well as the Junior Scratch race for both men and women.
