Alumnus of the Year Award for Chris Furber

Nottingham Trent University has presented GB Paracycling Coach Chris Furber with its Alumnus of the Year Award 2009, in recognition of his achievements with the GB squad, which has won over 50 gold medals since Chris took up the role in 2006

Chris joined British Cycling after graduating from the University in 1999 and has held a number of roles, including Mountain Bike Co-ordinator and Regional Talent Coach. Whilst at the university, Chris was president of the cycling team. Chris is also a familar face around the mountain bike race circuit, where he regularly commentates.

Reacting to the news, Chris said: "I'm really very lucky to be working in a job that I love and that I'm very passionate about. My time at Nottingham Trent University set me on a path to playing a part in the success that British para-cycling has earned in the past few years. To be recognised for these achievements by the University in this way is a real honour."
