Top 10 finishes for Barrow and Faucher on day one of the UCI Para Cycling Road World Championships

Great Britain Cycling Team riders Felix Barrow and Matt Faucher kicked off the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships in Canada by finishing sixth and 10th in their respective time-trials.

Great Britain Cycling Team riders Felix Barrow and Matt Faucher kicked off the UCI Para-Cycling Road World Championships in Canada by finishing sixth and 10th in their respective time-trials.

In his first world championships, Felix opened proceedings in the MT2 time trial, clocking an impressive time of 36:24.16 over the 18.9km course, and earning him a sixth-place finish – highlighting the young rider’s potential.

In the MH5 time trial, hand-cyclist Matt Faucher, who was also making his world championships debut, delivered a very well executed time trial, crossing the line in 33:25.07 to take 10th overall. Both riders will go on to compete in their respective road races on Saturday, with Felix racing over 37.8km  and Matt over 66.2km, with both hoping to build on their time-trial successes.

Competition continues today with the B and C category time-trials. Megan Newberry will be competing in the C5 category, Daphne Schrage will compete in the C3 with the aim of replicating her podium success from last year’s world championships, while Fran Brown competes in the C1.

Matthew Robertson will ride in the men’s C2 category, Ben Watson and Fin Graham will line up in the C3 and George Peasgood will defend his C4 time-trial world title.

In the tandem races, Sophie Unwin and pilot Jenny Holl will compete in the women’s event, while new pairing Chris McDonald and pilot Adam Duggleby will compete in the men’s.
