Beth Shriever finished in 20th position in the UCI BMX Supercross World Cup event on the first day of action in Papendal in the Netherlands.

The 19-year-old made it through to the quarter-finals in round one in Papendal but was then edged out as she tried to reach the semis.

As a result she finishes 20th overall, taking 40 World Cup points ahead of the second round of action in the event on Sunday.

In the men’s event Quillan Isidore also reached the quarter-finals, but could not go on from there as he continued his recovery from a broken leg suffered last season.

That was good enough for 32nd place overall, with compatriot Tre Whyte finishing one place further back after just missing out on the quarter-finals.

Whyte missed out in a photo finish in the men’s 1/8 finals, stopping at the same stage as Paddy Sharrock and Kyle Evans, who finished 47th and 54th respectively, while Ross Cullen was 88th.

They will also go again on Sunday in the second round of action in the Netherlands.
