British Cycling has today named the riders selected to compete in the next round of the Telenet UCI Cyclo-cross World Cup in Zolder, Belgium on 26th December 2017.

British riders are enjoying a successful cyclo-cross season so far, with Evie Richards (elite women), Nikki Brammeier (elite women), Tom Pidcock (under-23 men) and Ben Tulett (junior men) all finishing on the podium in their respective categories in last weekend’s world cup, bringing the British world cup podium finish tally up to eight so far.

Reigning junior cyclo-cross world champion Tom Pidcock will be back in action in Zolder on Boxing Day and in the hunt for his fourth world cup win at under-23 level, having taken victories in Namur, Bogense and Koksijde.

Junior rider Ben Tulett, who finished third in Namur, will also be looking to continue his run of form having produced some strong performances on the Belgian cyclo-cross race scene this season, winning both the Vlaamse Druivincrosse and the Koppenbergcross events.

British Cycling’s cyclo-cross co-ordinator Matt Ellis said: “The British riders enjoyed another successful race over the weekend with Evie Richards and Nikki Brammeier scoring a Great Britain one-two result in the elite women’s race, Tom Pidcock winning the under-23 race and Ben Tulett coming third in the junior men’s race.

“The next world cup stop for the squad is Zolder on Boxing Day and the race marks the start of a block of Belgium-based cyclo-cross races for many of the riders.

“Zolder features frequently on the world cup calendar and is familiar to all the riders we’ve selected. The course includes several small climbs with sandy descents and incorporates some of the motor racing circuit, including the grandstand areas. It’s a popular course which attracts big crowds and always provides an exciting atmosphere.

“Our British cyclo-cross riders are going from strength to strength this season, so it will be good to see this momentum continue with some more strong performances in Zolder.”
