Cameron Orr took a superb second at the UCI MTB Junior Series as Great Britain Cycling Team’s youngsters impressed at the Otztaler Mountain Bike Festival.

Orr, 18, contested a two-man sprint finish with Swiss rider Alexandre Balmer in Haiming, Austria. Britain’s Dan Tulett was 17th.

World cyclo-cross under-23 bronze medallist Evie Richards took a top-ten finish with sixth in the under-23 race.

The 20-year-old Senior Academy rider was three minutes and 34 seconds down on winner Anne Tuaber.

In the junior women’s event, Junior Academy athlete Emily Wadsworth was 16th, seven minutes behind Austrian winner Laura Stigger. Frazer Clacherty fought to 16th in the under-23 men’s race.

The UCI MTB Junior Series heads to Britain on 6-7 May at Hadleigh Park.
