Great Britain Cycling Team’s Evie Richards finished seventh at the International d’Italia Series in Milan.
On a wet and muddy day in Italy, Richards secured a top ten finish, 2:23 behind the race winner, Maja Wloszczowska (Kross Racing Team).
The Polish rider crossed the line in 1:08:40, beating Switzerland’s Alessandra Keller (Randon Factory XC Team) and Yolanda Neff (Kross Racing Team) to the win.
Richards’ seventh place finish was one place higher than fellow British rider Annie Last - the 2012 Olympian taking eighth place in the OMX Pro Team colours.
Ella Conolly, also in Great Britain Cycling Team colours, finished 30th, one lap down on the race winners.
In the men’s race, Frazer Clacherty took 33rd place, crossing the line in 1:11:50, around six and a half minutes behind Switzerland’s Florian Vogel (Focus XC Team), the race winner.
France’s Maxime Marotte (Cannondale Factory Racing) took second, 22 seconds behind Vogel, with his team-mate Manuel Fumic of Germany a further 12 seconds behind in third.
In the junior men’s race, part of the UCI Junior XCO Series, Cameron Orr just missed out on a podium finish, pipped into third place by France’s Mathis Azzaro.
The young Frenchman crossed the line a second before Orr, a fourth place finish representing a strong performance for the young Great Britain Cycling Team rider.
Orr finished in 49:14, 49 seconds behind race winner Joel Roth (Head Pro Team) of Switzerland, with Edoardo Xillo of Italy second.
Great Britain Cycling Team’s Calum Fernie finished 15th, 3:28 behind Roth, with Daniel Tulett 23rd and Sean Flynn 26th.
In the junior women’s race, Emily Wadsworth finished 13th in Great Britain Cycling Team colours, crossing the line in 51:28, 4:18 behind Laura Stigger of Austria, the race winner.
The French duo of Justine Tonso and Isaure Medde finished second and third respectively.
