Jody Cundy won his ninth consecutive 1km time trial world title with a stunning ride at the UCI Para-cycling Track World Championships.
The Great Britain Cycling Team star - never beaten over 1km at the world championships - claimed his 13th para-cycling world title in his illustrious career.
Last to ride in a field of 11 riders, Cundy’s biggest threat came from the penultimate rider to take to the track, Jozef Metelka.
The Slovakian was comfortably quicker than the rest of the field, setting a time of 1:06.149 for Cundy to beat to retain his rainbow stripes.
Cundy left everything on the track, demonstrating his power and determination to post a time of 1:05.614 to secure the gold in Los Angeles.
The bronze medal went to Kyle Bridgwood of Australia.
Cundy admitted it had been a tough ride.

"That was probably one of the hardest I've done. In 2007 I had the flu and did one and it was nearly as bad as that!
"Nothing beats pulling on a rainbow jersey. That, and Paralympic medals are the reason I keep coming back year after year."

Jon Gildea
Jon Gildea won his second track world championships silver medal for Great Britain Cycling Team with a brilliant performance in the C5 1km time trial.
The 2016 C5 scratch race silver medal winner was first off in the time trial and set a time of 1:08.065.
It was a time that looked good enough for a medal and proved to be too strong for most of the field - but USA’s Chris Murphy, the penultimate rider to take to the track, found the extra pace to post a time of 1:07.056 to claim gold.
Bronze went to Lauro Cesar Chaman of Brazil.

Ahead of a busy week, Gildea said he was pleased to get on the podium.
"When I finished and saw the time I was a bit disappointed, but I think that's just a sign of the track really.
"I quickly knew that I was in the medals so I'm well chuffed really with a silver. A massive result."
Very happy with my Silver medal @UCI_paracycling Track Worlds. Thanks for all of the help and support @BritishCycling
