Great Britain’s Tom Pidcock and Ben Turner pulled off an extraordinary one-two at the final world cup race of the season, ahead of the world championships in Luxembourg this weekend.
The two 18-year-olds finished just seconds apart in the thrilling junior race, while team mate Dan Tullett also performed strongly, finishing 18 seconds behind his compatriots in 11th place, with the fourth British rider, Thomas Mein, finishing in 30th position.
Pidcock’s win was enough toleave him in third place on the overall world cup standings, after a stunning season in which he won both the national and European titles at junior level.

There was a strong team performance too in the women’s race, where the under-23 world and national champion, Evie Richards, took sixth place, the third under-23 finisher, showing her strong form as she heads to defend her title in Bieles.

Nikki Brammeier, racing in her national champion’s jersey, also rode strongly, finishing just outside the top 10 in 11th place, while Helen Wyman returned from her crash at the European championships to take 20th place.

Hannah Payton was the fourth placed British rider, in 40th place, with Ffion James and Amira Mellor finishing close behind in 41st and 44th place respectively, 11th and 13th in the under-23 competition.
Ian Field represented the Great Britain Cycling Team in the elite men’s race but could not repeat his career-high finish of 11th place earlier in the season and finished in 34th place.
