British Cycling has today confirmed the team of riders who will represent Great Britain at the UCI Track Cycling World Cup taking place in Glasgow, Scotland, from 4 – 6 November 2016.

Olympic gold medallists Katie Archibald and Steven Burke will line up in Great Britain colours at the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome at the opening round of the 2016/17 world cup series. The Great Britain Cycling Team will also be fielding four of their women’s senior academy endurance squad at this event, representing Team Breeze. Team Breeze is supported by British Cycling’s Breeze initiative and is the biggest national programme designed to inspire and support more women to ride their bikes.

Head coach Iain Dyer said: “With the European Track Championships due to take place in Paris next weekend, we move on from there to round one of the world cup series with a fairly similar line-up.

“It’s predominantly a development team, with the exception of Katie, Steve and Andy Tennant, which is to be expected at this stage of the Olympic cycle. These young riders have been presented with a great opportunity to step up and compete at world cup level and, thanks to Team Breeze, we are able to enter an extra four female senior academy riders into this event.

“The Great Britain Cycling Team’s track squad is fortunate to be able to compete at major events on home soil on a fairly regular basis and it’s something which we’re all very grateful for. It is always an enjoyable experience and I know this team of young riders are looking forward to racing with the support of a home crowd behind them.”
