Emily Nelson starred in an impressive start for Team Breeze – officially launched on Friday – at the final Revolution of the 2015/16 series last weekend.

Nelson built on two recent UCI Track Cycling World Cup medals to win the elimination race, where she was joined on the podium by third-placed Manon Lloyd. Nelson also secured second place in the points race and third in the scratch race, with Laura Trott taking both wins.

Also competing in an impressive start for Team Breeze were Emily Kay, Abbie Dentus, Megan Barker, Annasley Park and former junior world champion Danni Khan.

Team Breeze will offer riders from the Great Britain Cycling Team’s women’s academy endurance squad the opportunity to race consistently on the road and track in 2016, representing another boost to women’s racing in Britain and providing a focal point for British Cycling’s strategy to influence at least one million more women to cycle regularly by 2020.

Becki Morris, women’s cycling project manager, said:

“We’ll be getting behind Team Breeze throughout the season, and it was great to see so many of the riders performing well on the team’s debut in Manchester. We have no doubt that they’ll be a huge success and inspire many more women and girls to give cycling a go.

“Making a connection between the worlds of professional and recreational cycling is another great milestone for our campaign to get one million more women riding by 2020. It represents a new, joined-up approach to grow the sport at all levels, using inspiration as the key.”
