British Cycling has named the Great Britain Cycling Team for the final round of the 2015 UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa from 11-13 September.

A number of riders who took part in the recent world championships in Switzerland are selected.

Karen Darke will compete in the H3 handcycling category while Lora Turnham and Corrinne Hall and Steve Bate and Adam Duggleby will compete in the tandem events.

Simon Price will be hoping for his first podium finish of 2015 in the men’s C2 after a fifth place in the road race at the world championships, while Hannah Dines and Liz Saul will be hoping for a strong performance in the women’s T2 and C4 races respectively, to round off a breakthrough year for the pair.

David Smith, Jaco Van Gass and Jon Gildea all return to the squad after competing at world cups in Italy and Switzerland earlier in the season while Sally Hurst and Craig McCann both make their debuts for the Great Britain Cycling Team at world cup level.

Great Britain para-cycling head coach, Jon Norfolk, said:

“We’ve selected a strong squad to travel to the final world cup of the season, with these riders all capable of gaining vital qualifying points for Rio 2016.

“While many of them are at different stages of their development we believe they’re all capable of putting in competitive performances. A number of them have already medalled at world cups earlier this year, with others coming close, so we’re hoping for a strong finish to the season.”
