British Cycling has today confirmed the team of mountain bikers who will represent the Great Britain Cycling Team at the UEC European Mountain Bike Championships taking place in Chies D'Alpago, Italy from 20 - 26 July.

Olympic podium rider Grant Ferguson has made selection, as have senior academy riders Alice Barnes and Iain Paton. Olympians Liam Killeen and Annie Last have also been called up to represent the Great Britain Cycling Team.

Speaking of the selection, technical director Shane Sutton OBE said: “The programme riders have undergone an intensive period of road training under the guidance of coach Julian Winn and we’re starting to see the gains, particularly in Alice Barnes who had her first top-five result at a world cup having placed second in the elite road national championships.

“It’s good to be able to welcome Liam back after he left the Great Britain Cycling Team post-London and it shows the door is never closed to talented bike riders.”
