It's been a busy month for the Great Britain Cycling Team - here are the highlights.
Scott Davies toe-to-toe with the world’s best at Tour de Yorkshire
The month began on a high for the Great Britain Cycling Team, with our under-23 team flying the flag at the inaugural Tour de Yorkshire. It was a huge team effort from the young Great Britain squad but it was 19-year-old Welshman Scott Davies that shone brightest, finishing in 12th overall amid senior World Tour competition.
"I'm over the moon with that result considering how I felt last week with illness,” said Davies.
"I didn't want to get my hopes up - I wasn't sure I'd ride and even if I did I didn't really expect much of a result.
"To come away with that I'm really pleased."
Alex Dowsett breaks the hour record
“I was expecting horrific and it was just terrible. I’m not going to lie, the first 30 minutes was easy. Easy compared to what I expected.”
The words of a remarkably chipper looking Alex Dowsett shortly after becoming the first Briton to hold the hour record since Chris Boardman, who set the mark in 2000 and held it until 2005.
The Great Britain Olympic Podium Programme rider’s distance of 52.937 kilometres, set at Manchester’s National Cycling Centre, bested Australian Rohan Dennis’ previous mark by 446 metres and threw the gauntlet down to Sir Bradley Wiggins, who will attempt to raise the bar even higher in London on 7 June.
Grant Ferguson mixes it with cross-country legends Absalon and Schurter
Great Britain’s Grant Ferguson showed the greatest indication yet that he is capable of fulfilling his vision to become the best in the world at round two of the German Bundesliga cross-country mountain bike series on 3 May, finishing in fifth place sandwiched between none other than 2013 world champion Nino Schurter of Switzerland and 2014 title holder Julien Absalon of France.

Ferguson embarked upon his final year in the under-23 category this season and had the honour of tying the number one plate to his bike at the start of the world cup season.
“That’s pretty cool, it’s pretty smart,” Ferguson remarked.
“It’s a nice thing to have and I’ll take a picture of that number. It has been building for a while, that’s what I enjoy doing, big races excite me.”
Great Britain Para-cycling Team women dominant at Brixia Para-cycling Cup
Great Britain’s women para-cyclists were a force to be reckoned with at the UCI C1 Brixia Para-cycling Cup in Italy.
The event saw Sally Hurst, Liz Saul and Hannah Dines dominate the time-trial and road races in their respective categories, the highlight of a strong team performance that bodes well for the forthcoming UCI Para-cycling Road World Cup in Maniago from 5-7 June.
