Great Britain’s Tao Geoghagen Hart battled to remain in 11th place overall at the Tour de l’Avenir after stage five.

Hart, 19, finished 16th after a sprint finish in the chasing group behind solo winner Dylan Teuns.

Belgian Teuns attacked with just a kilometre remaining to the summit finish on the category-one the Montee des Carroz d’Araches, at the end of the 101.6km stage from Bons-en-Chablais.

“Congrats @dylan_teuns for win today. Got bit boxed in sprint but no time lost, 16th,” Hart tweeted.

Hart remains one minute and 19 seconds behind Colombian race leader Miguel Angel Lopez with two stages left.

Scott Davies crossed the line 60th, Daniel Pearson 83rd, Owain Doull 84th, Jake Kelly 95th and Daniel McLay 119th.

Pearson had been part of a 10-man breakaway which was caught on the final climb.

The final two stages of the Tour of the Future, the final event of the UCI Under 23 Nations’ Cup, continue the pattern of finishing on climbs.
