Great Britain track sprinters Dannielle Khan, Katy Marchant, Lewis Oliva, Matt Rotherham and Callum Skinner will compete at the 2014 Vier-Bahnen-Tour in Germany from 6-9 June.

The squad will begin the process of qualifying spots for the 2014-15 UCI Track Cycling World Cup series, which in turn earns places at the 2015 UCI Track Cycling World Championships.

The four-day meeting starts in Singen on Friday and finishes up at the velodrome in Dudenhofen on Monday, the first in a series of summer track meetings for Great Britain.

Speaking last month, Great Britain sprint coach Iain Dyer outlined the team’s plans for June.

“We’re in a really solid training block at the moment - we’re working hard in the gym, on the track and the road as well,” Dyer said.

“At the beginning of June we’ll send a small team to Vier-Bahnen on predominantly outdoor tracks. Then we’ll go to Cottbus in the middle of June and we’ll be looking to do the Cottbus Sprint Cup and Cottbus Grand Prix a week later.

“June will give us an opportunity to have a good sort out and see where we are up to in regards to the Commonwealth Games, event specialities and also the European under 23 track championships, which is on at the same time as the Commonwealth Games. We’ve got the potential to send some riders there as well.”

Callum Skinner has been named in the Team Scotland squad for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow.

Team England and Team Wales have yet to name their squads for cycling.
