Event Overview

A new mountain bike challenge in the Pentland Hills.

Mountain biking is a regular activity in the Pentlands, with a recognised network of trails that range from dirt roads, through well-maintained wide trails to technical singletrack. Based on established rights of way and old droving routes, they criss-cross the Pentlands but for the first time a route has been developed that takes riders from the very edge of the City, into the heart of the hills and back in a single 47km loop, climbing and descending over 1,400m. Add another loop and you’ve got a 94km course that climbs and descends a total of 2,800m.

There are a number of distances possible but remember that it’s not meant to be a race – it’s all about personal challenge, having fun and exploring a great piece of countryside.

Saturday is for all the age groups that can’t enter Sunday’s events. From the youngest rider through to 18 year olds of all abilities, there’ll be courses to suit everyone. Then it’s off to Howden Burn and the Brutal K, a punishing hill climb that will have lactate building up in places you never knew existed. A timed 1km sprint that climbs a mere 170m on the notorious MOD access road with £1,000 of prize money up for grabs.

Sunday is Marathon day. 3 options, based on the core 47km loop – 1 lap, 1.5 laps or the full 2 laps. Find out what the Pentlands has to offer and push your riding to new levels.

Entry includes the following:

Event entry (your bike number)

Event T-shirt and goody bag

Free camping (Friday, Saturday and Sunday)

Showers at the start/finish
