What is MiniDH?

Downhill mountain biking is a fast and exciting sport, putting man (or mini person) and machine against the clock. Each rider has to ride a set course comprising of jumps, drops, roots, rocks, twists and turns. The aim is to complete the course as fast as you can.

Mini downhill is just like the real thing but miniature! Shorter courses, smaller bikes and younger riders but it has all of the passion, excitement and drama of racing! The Mini Downhill Series will provide a pathway for aspiring young downhill riders aged between 8 and 16 years of ages to get their first taste of downhill mountain bike racing.

What is Short Course XC?

XC mountain biking is fast paced circuit racing with a mass start, a number of laps with tracks containing roots, rocks, twists and turns.

Short course is just the same, but on a smaller loop course and 3 or 5 laps to suit the mini racers abilities!

What riders need to bring:

• A Mountain bike which needs to be of good quality and in full safe working order;
• All riders must be signed on by a parent or guardian
• A Full Face helmet (Make sure it fits properly) for Mini DH race open face helmets for XC.
• Appropriate clothing for the weather and for racing; Full finger gloves and arm and leg cover are compulsory and body armour is strongly recommended.

Age Categories

There will be 4 age categories for the event:
• Youth A - 10 - 14
• Youth B - 14 - 17
• Adult A - 17 - 30
• Adult B - 30+

*Given the nature of the event entrants for the under 10 category will be ‘by application’ Under 10’s will need to name a fully qualified UKCC level2 coach who can confirm their riding ability for the event.


Entry

Entry will be pay on the day.

£5 for under all 17's

£7 for adults

Qualification

The AMS is a points series with point allocated for all top ten riders, these carry forward to the final race where the winners of each category will be announched.

The Course

The courses will change for ever round and will have some technical sections with optional routes around and these sections.

Timetable

9.30 – Sign on and bike check opens. Course open for foot inspection only

10.30 – Course open for practice
12.30 – Course closed

13.00 – First Race Runs begin*
14.00 – Second Runs begin*

*Times of race runs are approximate and will depend on entry numbers
