Event Summary

Event Overview

The THIRD Annual Rivers Ride consists of FOUR stunning Lake District bike routes for cyclists of all abilities - ONE great charity - Cumbria Community Foundation

Sign up for the friendliest cycle sportive in the Lake District and help raise money for good causes in Cumbria.  Ours is the best charity road biking event in Cumbria, with dedicated support from experienced local route Marshals, excellent help en route from roaming broom wagons and the happiest bunch of volunteers at our feed stations.

The JENNINGS Rivers Ride
The Jennings Rivers Ride reveals some of the UK’s finest scenery and cycling terrain from the heart of the Lake District all the way out to the Irish Sea. It’s a series of four bike rides which start and finish in Keswick. It’s called the Rivers Ride because sections of the routes follow the affected river courses and criss-cross over many of the bridges that were either destroyed and replaced, or were badly damaged during the floods in 2009.

Family Challenge Ride £16 - Route sponsored by Nuclear Management Partners
This is a new all-inclusive event that challenges youngsters (and their parents / guardians) to ride a distance of 10 miles out along the old railway line searching for treasure and back in a loop to Keswick.

Community Circuit £30 Route sponsored by NSG Environmental Ltd
This is an achievable challenge for novices or those returning to cycling after a break, with some preparation. 38 miles of lovely Lakeland roads heading west to Cockermouth via Ouse Bridge, returning to Keswick via the rebuilt Lorton Bridge and finishing with a climb over Whinlatter Pass.

Foundation flyer £30 - Route sponsored by Armstrong Watson
This NEW route is a step up for those riders who are looking for a greater challenge or have already successfully completed the Community Circuit Ride. It’s a cracking 55 mile route which after an easy start takes in the triple challenge of Whinlatter (twice) and Newlands Pass!

Big Day Out Ride £30 - Route sponsored by Cumberland Building Society
This is THE BIG ONE! A challenging ride for the more experienced rider. Don’t be deceived by the flat start which heads out to the Irish Sea at Workington. The route returns to Keswick via three of the Lake District’s major road passes : Whinlatter, Newlands and finally Honister - to complete an epic ride of just over 75 miles with a sting that is most certainly in the tail.

Raise a little... help a lot
If you can match your entry fee with sponsorship, Cumbria Community Foundation will be able to help even more people. You can set up a fundraising JustGiving page to make donating easier with your own bespoke page, target amount and text code.

Rewards for Raising Money - If you raise money for us:
£125 = a Jennings Rivers Ride Yellow Cycling Jersey.
£250 = a Jennings Rivers Ride Sports Hoodie.
£500 = a Jennings Rivers Ride King (or Queen) of the Mountains Polka Dot Cycling Jersey.
AND... raise the most overall... and you’ll win a prize that money cannot buy... you’ll see a caricature of your face on a Jennings Rivers Ride Guest Ale in August and September 2014!

What people thought of Last Year’s Event
“I loved it! The camaraderie is wonderful and all for a very deserving cause. There is something for everyone’s cycling ability. I would definitely recommend taking part.”  Tim Backshall, ITV Border

“It was a wonderful day, fantastic for the children to feel so involved in such a big event, we were surrounded by riders of all abilities, all with smiles on their faces and words of encouragement for the girls. A day we will never forget!” Kerry Cornforth
