Update no. 1 - 15/04/13

Posted 15/04/2013

With two weeks to go before entries close, and a little over a month before the race itself, we have around 90 entries with a maximum field allowed of 80 riders, so the good news is we should have a full field, but the bad news is that unfortunately some entrants are going to be disappointed. The field will be selected and riders notified towards the end of w/c 29th April.

The 54-mile race is over 6 laps of a 9-mile circuit starting on the Drift Road near Fifield, between Bracknell and Windsor. You can view the course online, and download a .gpx file etc, here:

http://ridewithgps.com/routes/2330147

The circuit is fast and flowing, on mainly wide and open roads, only 2 sharp turns and with a mix of flat and undulating terrain. The roads are main roads, however, so traffic is to be expected, and riders will need to respect the white lines and look out for each other. The finish is at the end of the top stretch of the circuit on a long straight, typically into a headwind, and with a gentle rise in the final few hundred metres.

A few details:

-       HQ will open for sign-on at 8:30am

-       Parking at the HQ is limited to the vehicles of officials, marshals and volunteers only; we hope to have some off-road parking for race participants about 200m from the HQ (TBC), but please note that parking is limited and we recommend and request that people share rides wherever possible

-       The race starts at 10:00am and should finish shortly after 12:00pm

-       Food and drink will be available at the HQ both before and after the race, courtesy of parents and teachers from Holyport Pre-School who are raising money for the school – please support them

The race is open to 3rd and 4th category riders. The race is classified as a Regional B, points band 4, so points for the first 10 finishers.
