Event Overview

A fully road ride event with long and short route options to celebrate the 50th Anniversary Year of the Shropshire Cycling Clubs Association.

Long Ride - "The Anchor" - 58 miles

This is a challenging 58 mile route through west Shropshire dipping into East Wales. Starting from Westbury, the route goes out through Montgomery and takes in the west side of the "Anchor" climb, starting from Abermule in the Severn Valley via Glanmule to the summit at Anchor, the most westerly place and highest classified road (A/B) in Shropshire. The total ascent for Abermule to Anchor is 294 meters. The returns via Clun, Bishop's Castle and the Hope Valley.

 

Short  Route - The Vale of Kerry - 45 miles

There is a shorter 45 mile option which follows the same rout as the long ride via Montgomery and Abermule to Glamule and then returns via Church Stoke and the Hope Valley, avoiding the bigger part of the Anchor climb.

This event is a fully on road "Reliability Ride" style event. The route is a mixture of single carriageway "B" and unclassified roads with a long section on the single carriageway A488 on the retrurn leg starting from Clun.

Riders will set off in groups from the HQ at Westbury Village Hall starting at 9:30
