Event Summary

Event Overview

THIS EVENT IS ONLY OPEN TO MEMBERS OF THE ASSOCIATED CLUBS.

*****

A Dulwich x Brixton x TrashMile Mashup!

The annual Dulwich Paragon CC Crit World Champs is now in conjunction with Brixton CC & TrashMile.

Featuring 5 separate races. A combined club Novice Race, 3 separate men's races (one for each club), and a combined DP/BC/TM Women's race.

First race off at 13:00 and last race finishing at 17:30 on the afternoon of Saturday 23rd September 2023.

*****

SPECTATOR PRIZES:

To keep everyone engaged and to ensure vocal support for all of the races there will be a £100 cash prize awarded to spectators for guessing the winner of each race.

The rules:

1. You can only guess the winner of the OTHER club's races, not your own.

2. You have to make your guess before the start of the race.

3. The cash prize will be shared between everyone that guessed the winner - so guess an unlikely winner to win big!

4. The riders will provide some additional info at sign-on to help you make your guess, as well as a selfie to help you identify them in the race.

5. You must be a member of Dulwich, Brixton or TrashMile to participate.

6. You must be at the venue for the start and finish of the race.

7. For the women's race, you still cannot guess your own club mates*.

*So Brixton spectators, for example, may find themselves supporting a Dulwich or TrashMile rider that they 'bet' on, whilst also supporting their club mates for the win. Allegiances will be all over the place.

About the Event

Info for Riders

Competitive, but friendly racing.

Only the current reigning champion can wear their club kit to race, so it's time to dig out any weird and wonderful 'other' kit that you might have in your possession and race for the right to wear your true colours with pride in 2024!

The first few laps of the Novice Race will be neutralised and led out by an experienced racer to allow the riders to see the corners without feeling the need to attack them. This is a fun event, we are racing but most of all we want to enjoy ourselves, so keep a cool head and ride within your capabilities at all times. Please note, if you do not have a BC race licence you will need to buy a day licence.

Depending on sign-up numbers the main event races may be run as handicap races. This would mean that 4th cat riders will be set off first, then, after a short interval, the 3rds etc. At the start of the race the groups should work together to catch the group ahead then, after the catch has been made, it's race on to the finish line.

The combined club Women's Race will be held as a single race, but the highest place rider from each club will be crowned their individual club's annual Crit Champ. The race is held as a combined club event to try and increase the rider numbers.

To encourage support for the races there are spectator prizes on offer. This is intended as a bit of fun. There will be a bit of additional info requested at sign on (preferably already filled in on RiderHQ). There will also be a polaroid camera so we can take a selfie of each rider in their helmet and sunglasses to help spectators identify their chosen rider.

Finally, to return to my first point, please do not forget that this is a fun event, we are racing but most of all we want to enjoy ourselves, so keep a cool head and ride within your capabilities at all times.

Looking forward to seeing you there.
