Sams Ride is an annual very friendly, non-competitive charity Cycle Sportive in aid of the Samaritans of Salisbury and District  that is now recognised as one of the premier charity cycle sportives  in the Hampshire and Wiltshire region. This year's event, our 7th Sams Ride, will take place on Saturday 20th August 2022. We have raised nearly £150,000 of vital funds that keep your local branch of the Samaritans open, so please support us by entering and riding, donating or sponsoring or by volunteering, on the day.

About the Event

Info for Riders

Our Cycle Sportive includes the following:

 

  • Three signed courses for 100, 50 and 25 miles through scenic countryside. Designated .gpx map files are available for download
  • Riders under 18 must sign a parental consent form which can be downloaded here
  • Rest and refuel stations at regular intervals with free refreshments and toilets
  • Event public liability insurance: Riders are encouraged to have their own personal insurance (covered by certain categories of British Cycing Membership)
  • Ride HQ: Start and finish point with:
    • Registration desk for all participants to collect a rider pack that includes
      • Wristband for participant identification
      • Laminated bike number and ties
    • Car Parking
    • Tented registration cover
    • Coffee/Tea/Breakfast (self-purchase)
    • Male and female toilet and changing facilities
    • Water on tap
    • First Aid station
    • Bicycle stand racking
    • Mechanical support
  • On course
    • Marshalls at key crossing points
    • Good route signage with hazard markings
    • Feed stations with male and female toilets
    • Cycle repair and support 
    • Emergency support and First Aid
    • On course photography
    • Broom wagon to sweep up stranded riders
  • Post finish
    • Post-race hot meal (Included in entry fee)
    • Event memento and medal
    • Post event bar
