Event Overview

To be eligible for the Welsh Championship title a rider must hold Welsh Nationality and a full racing licence.

Non Welsh riders can compete and as long as they hold a full racing licence, would be eligilbe for ranking points, but not for the title.

Non licenced riders of any Nationality can compete, but will not acrue ranking points and/or be eligible for the title.

This race is brought to you as part of a festival of MTB at Margam Country Park.

This mountain bike marathon is an endurance race of 80 km over 2 laps. There is challenging climbs, sections of single track trail, and forestry roads leading you on a route from Margam Park into the surrounding forestry. Welsh Championship medals will be given to 1st, 2nd and 3rd in each category. First place will be awarded a Welsh championship jersey in each category.

There is a single lap 40 km recreational option for new or novice riders who want to see what its all about.

No matter your ability, you can take part in this challenging race. For the 80km you must ride a MTB. For the 40km half marathon only, EMTB or gravel bikes are allowed.

Margam Mountain Bike Club will be organising the event in partnership with Welsh Cycling and this will be classed as the Welsh Mountain Bike Marathon championships 2022. This not for profit event will see any funds made reinvested into the sport, the local trails and future mountain bike events. Our vision is to bring British and World level MTB races to Margam and the surrounding area.

About the Event

Info for Riders

This is a pre sign up event and there will not be entries on the day, the closing date will be 7th August 23.55pm. Event parking will need to be purchased and this will be sent out before the race. You can ride in to the park for free. There are many local areas where you can find accommodation. Full event details will be emailed to riders in advance of the race, there will be activities for families at the park throughout the day. There is also the option to attend an evening outdoor cinema organised through Margam Park and Gower Pizza.
