Event Summary

Event Overview

The session is promoted by the British Cycling talent development team, in partnership with South regional British Cycling staff and Southern Cycle Coaching.  

The goal of these Easter sessions is to get riders back on the track, get lots of track time, and get used to riding and racing in groups again. Please expect a demanding 4 hrs. 

Development Centres support riders with their first step on the talent pathway as well as current riders who have been engaged in RSR and Apprentice programmes.  Online entry is used to support the tracking of riders through the pathway.

Development Centre Sessions are open to Youth A/B and Junior riders only.  Sessions will focus on higher level skills development, race fitness, race tactics and race craft, and will be supplemented by occasional workshops/forums (e.g. training, diet and strength and conditioning).

Booking is ONLINE ONLY (payments will be kept as pending (i.e. not taken from your account) until the morning of the event, incase of inclement weather or changes to government C19 guidance).

Info for Riders

THESE EARLY RETURN DEVELOPMENT CENTRE SESSIONS AT BOURNEMOUTH ARE SUBJECT TO GOVERNMENT RESTRICTIONS ASSOCIATED WITH C19, WHICH MAY CHANGE. 

Session time 10:00 to 14:00

It is expected that the session will be able to go aheard with a maximum rider number of at least 25 riders, possibly up to 30.

The session is open to male & female Youth A/B & Junior riders (in 2021).

In order for riders to be considered for the sessions, racers must be competent at riding at any point on the track AND meet at least one of the below critieria:

  • Be already racing track 
  • Be Indoor Track accredited, or have significant outdoor track riding/racing experience 
  • Be an existing Track RSR or GBCT Apprentice rider

Riders will need to bring there own equipment (incl rollers, chair & an exercise mat) and enough food and drink to last the duration of the training session.

Please contact me if you need to hire a track bike for the session (likely cost <£5)

Riders please do not enter the track centre more than 20mins before the session start. Parents should not remain in the track after dropping kit off.

Access to the pavillion will be limited (toilets only).

Riders should come changed and ready to ride.

Please assume no changing facilities will be available.

 

Covid-19 Information:

If you, or anyone in your household is shielding or displaying covid-19 symptoms do not attend the session. The on-bike sessions are designed to meet current social-distancing and hygiene requirements. Please respect normal social-distancing & hygiene requirements when off the bikes too (this includes Parents).

  • Keep 2m apart, Stay in your designated chair & keep your area clear
  • Do not share equipment
  • Your own equipment should be clean and sanitised before you use it
  • Do not congregate more than necessary before & after the session
  • Use hand sanitiser when entering the track or touching communal surfaces
  • Avoid touching your face with your hands

Entries will close on the Friday before the event at 11.55pm.
